To use this cable, first remove the plastic protectors from each end. Next, connect one end to an audio source device (like a Blu-ray player, computer, or streaming box). Finally, connect the other end to your audio system or TV.
TOSLINK supports uncompressed PCM stereo audio or compressed 5.1 or 7.1 channel audio, including Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio.
TOSLINK is not able to carry PCM 5.1 or 7.1 audio, Dolby TrueHD, or DTS-HD Master Audio due to bandwidth limitations.
TOSLINK cables are bi-directional. Either end of this cable can be connected to either your audio source device or your TV or audio system.
TOSLINK cables carry audio using pulses of light. It is not possible to passively adapt a TOSLINK cable to a 3.5mm or RCA port, which use electrical signals. To connect a TOSLINK device to a device that uses electrical signals, and active, powered converter would be necessary.
